PROVENANCE
From an Important Private Collection, Mumbai

By the second quarter of the 17th century, the Mughal School began influencing the Bikaner atelier in a very big way. There was an increased interest in details and finish which remained with this school of art for a long time. In this pleasant painting, a beautiful damsel is shown in a dancing pose. The background is jade green and the lady wears an orange blouse with a transparent odhni flowing down her upper torso. The hair and facial features are delicately painted. The Bikaner School had a very well-trained atelier, which is quite evident from the quality of this work.
